Akash and Vinay are happily placed back with their families through the services of Childline through Don Bosco Veedu, Thiruvanthapuram.
CHILDLINE, the country`s first toll-free tele-helpline for street children in distress, is spread across different cities. At Thiruvananthapuram in South Kerala, Don Bosco Veedu is the supporting organization. Two children have been home placed from Pune and Vaduthala. Seven year old Akash has finally been reunited with his parents. They came all the way from Pune to meet their son who left home on January 17. Akash was found at Thampanoor railway station was handed over to Don Bosco Veedu by the railway police on January 26. The Don Bosco authorities uploaded his photos and details in its national network www.missingchildsearch.net. Meanwhile, Akash`s parents had filed a missing complaint in Pune. After interacting with him the childline workers contacted authorities in Pune. The authorities finally met Akash`s parents and paved the way to reunite the family with their son on February 16, 2010 at Don Bosco, Manacaud. Another boy named Vinay, an eighth standard student was unified with his family after one year. Vinay ran away from his home from in Ernakulam district. The family members searched everywhere for their son but they could not find him. The child line people at Mangalore found him and handed him over to Child Line, Thiruvananthapuram. The authorities there took him before the child welfare committee and accommodated him in the government children`s home. When the parents of Vinay watched him in a television programme, they came to Thiruvananthapuram and took their son home.
